Whiskey Advent Calendar Review
This isn’t just your average flimsy cardboard advent calendar that is typically filled with chocolate or candy that you don’t really want to eat. This one is filled with your favorite type of spirits.
If you were not aware, there is a company named Drinks by the Dram that sells an entire collection of alcohol themed Advent Calendars. So, if you are holiday gift shopping or just have a spirits enthusiast in your life, this is a really unique gift idea. Since the holiday season is just a few weeks away, you may just be able to check a gift or two off your to do list.
This isn’t just your average flimsy cardboard advent calendar that is typically filled with chocolate or candy that you don’t really want to eat. This one is filled with your favorite type of spirits. You will get a sturdy square box with 24 perforated tabs or doors spaced across the front of it, just like you’d see on a typical advent calendar. You open the tabs and there is a very nice little wax-sealed 30 ml glass bottle tucked inside. Out of the 24 samples included, more than half were new to me. They are all neatly labeled and also included the ABV info on each one.
There are 14 different options of advent calendars to choose from. I had the Bourbon and American Whiskey version but are 13 others to choose from including Japanese Whisky, Gins, Rum, Scotch, Single Cask Whisky, Vodka, a few premium options, and even super premium Old and Rare Whisky calendar. Pricing on their website is listed in British Pounds but the cost in USD starts at about $135 and varies depending on what version you choose. The company itself doesn’t ship direct to the US but they have partnered with multiple vendors including Hard To Find Whiskey that can ship to you.
There is no reason for me to review each sample sent, but just know that you won’t be disappointed. You won’t be getting samples of Old Forester Birthday Bourbon or any BTAC for that matter, but you will get a nice mix of offerings from some of the major distilleries as well as some smaller craft distilleries that you have probably heard of but not yet tried. I’m not sure if this is something that you would buy for yourself every year, but it would make a great early holiday gift to yourself or anyone else in your life who likes to #DrinkCurious.
