STEVE'S NOTES

SHARE WITH: Any whiskey lover, especially anyone needing to be convinced that great whiskey does indeed come from Texas.

WORTH THE PRICE: Yes, because it's novel and delicious, tastes like nothing else, and is from a young distillery making great whiskies.

BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: Bottle.

OVERALL: I love the lightly piney note that comes right out of every glass of Still Austin whiskeys. It comforts me knowing something good and unique is coming. Following in that train of pine aroma comes cooked corn (from the white corn?) followed by maple syrup, black pepper, and some flamed citrus peel.

The palate is busy and floral, honeyed (coming from that unique corn combination?) with cinnamon and toasted barrel, charred corn notes (red corn?) and the barest hint of rhubarb. (The corn rasslin' is delicious!) Let it hang a bit in your mouth, suck some air through your teeth like you should do only in private and taste confectioner's sugar and buttercream frosting.

Just a great bourbon, and noticeably richer and more fruity than its 4-year-old, BIB 2023 predecessor. Still Austin keeps banging out BIBs in dramatic fashion, and, of course, it makes me wonder what's getting older on site in Austin, Texas? I can't wait to taste those!

BRAND NOTES

The whiskeys in our Seasonal Bottled in Bond Series capture the ingredients, flavors and themes of the seasons from which they were inspired.

For this Summer 2024 release—represented by the heat-loving snake and cactus—we combined the robust nuttiness of Jimmy Red corn with the sweet spice of rye. This release was a fan favorite when it was released last year, and with an additional year of aging, it might be even better.

NOSE: cinnamon, truffle, freshly ground coffee, vanilla cream soda, charred grapefruit

PALATE: candied orange peel, milk chocolate, aged maple syrup, leather, mint leaves, marzipan, roasted pistachio

FINISH: buttercream frosting, rum raisin ice cream, sarsaparilla, freshly ground peppercorns
