POPS' NOTES
NOSE: Vanilla | Green Apple (bordering on Juicy Fruit gum) | Spices
TASTE: Juicy Fruit | Oak | Vanilla | Hint of Mint
FINISH: Lingering green apple with a mix of oak and spice with a medium fade. Repeated sips seem to get more tannic
SHARE WITH: Rye fans who enjoy seeing how different bottlings of rye whiskey with similar mash bills can deliver different aroma and flavor profiles. Cocktails will also enjoy trying it in their favorite whiskey cocktail.
WORTH THE PRICE: $20 a bottle is extremely budget friendly, and the juice is easily worth the investment.
BOTTLE, BAR OR BUST: Grab yourself a bottle and give a try. I wouldn’t drink this neat very often, but at $20 a bottle, you won’t feel bad about mixing it or adding to your favorite cocktail.
OVERALL: A simple yet tasty whiskey. It’s one of the lightest whiskeys we’ve tried this year, but its fruit overtones make it interesting enough to finish a glass without any hesitation. However, its lack of depth will keep it from my regular rotation of whiskeys that I enjoy drinking neat. It is far better as a mild cocktail rye that’s friendly on the budget.
